PDP IS Not Dead – Gov Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu

The governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not dead, adding that the party will bounce back in 2019.

Receiving the Umar Nasko Campaign Organisation led by Alhaji Aminu Yusuf at the Government House, Minna, Aliyu said that the PDP will meet at the state and federal levels to correct its mistakes.

He said, “Our party is not dead. When all these cool down, we will properly reorganise to bring PDP back to its formidable political strength.

Many things have happened and this is not the time for us to apportion blames”.

“I, therefore, hope that during the time we will have to reorganise our party, we would add more ideologies to what we have. Let me urge you to stop thinking you have failed; it went beyond the limits of individual efforts.”

Earlier, Aminu Yusuf thanked Governor Aliyu for the way he took the elections despite the fact that the results were not in favour of the PDP, adding that he exhibited the character of a good leader.

I will not create new Emirates – Gov Aliyu
Meanwhile, Governor Aliyu has said that he has no plans to create more emirates in the state, adding that it exists in the imaginations of those peddling the rumour.

Governor Aliyu’s position on the rumour making the rounds was contained in a press statement by his chief press secretary, Mr. Israel Ebije.
Aliyu said those behind the rumour are only interested in pitting the governor against the traditional institution, adding that his administration would have upgraded more emirate councils long ago if it was expedient to do so.

He added that there was enough time to effect such a monumental change since 2007 and therefore maintained that he has no plans for such errand few weeks to handing over.

He added that the process of expanding emirate councils cannot be done overnight adding that series of consultations with the people must first precede such decision.

Apparently reacting also to a motion presented to Niger State House of Assembly on Tuesday to upgrade some emirate councils, by the Deputy Speaker and member representing Borgu constituency which was however stepped down, the Governor said he has nothing to do with the motion .
