Rastafari Chant is a reggae song recorded by Nigerian reggae artist Ras Kimono, for his 1990 sophomore studio album What’s Gwan.
It appears as the fourth track on the B-Side of the What’s Gwan CD.
Kimono wrote the song and it features additional vocals by Austine Rigar and Charles Zubi Enebeli.
The song’s signature “ayaga yaga yaga yoo” chant, which seemed to leave an indelible impression on the listeners’ mind, is probably one highlight that has kept it evergreen over the decades.
This is a simple, elegant and melodiously captivating groove.
NB: There was a production error prior to the album’s release, and this track was originally supposed to be titled “Rastafari Chant / Kimono De Want”.
