Fela Anikulapo Kuti X Afrika 70 Song shuffering and shmiling
Fela Anikulapo Kuti X Afrika 70 shuffering and shmiling: Shuffering and Shmiling is the second (2nd) track from Nigerian Afrobeat musician/composer and multi-instrumentalist Fela Kuti’s album of the same name, recorded and released in 1977 initially on Nigerian Coconut label and later on New York City’s Celluloid Records in 1985.
The song was born out of Fela’s resentment of the authorities after a police attack was meted out on his Kalakuta Republic in 1977, injuring and arresting his mother and members of his band.
In the song, Fela expresses that the authorities’ oppression and harassment have put the people of Nigeria in a state of suffering and smiling (Shuffering and Shmiling).
