Written by Dr. Dre, RBX and Snoop Dogg, the song (produced by Dr. Dre as well) was released as the third single from the album on September 13, 1993.
After its release, the single proved to be a sleeper hit and became a massive hit when Dre won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance for the song at the 1994 Grammy Awards.
Let Me Ride eventually topped the US Billboard Rhythmic chart, and reached number three on both the US Billboard Hot Rap Songs and Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
