Genie in a Bottle is an R&B dance pop song by American singer Christina Aguilera, from her self-titled debut studio album released in 1999. David Frank and Steve Kipner wrote and produced it, while Pamela Sheyne was co-writer.

RCA Records released the song on June 22, 1999 as the album’s lead single. It received positive reviews and praise from most contemporary music critics. Subsequently, the single became hugely commercially successful, peaking atop the record charts of 21 countries.

Genie in a Bottle topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles chart for many weeks. It was also certified platinum in the countries, having sold more than 1.4 million copies.

Furthermore, the single has sold over 7 million copies internationally and is listed as one of the best selling singles of all time
