BlaqBonez - You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Life [MI Abaga Reply]

M.I Abaga in his latest release called out to Nigerian rappers to “Fix Up Their Lives”. In the three and a half minute lyrical tongue lashing, The Chairman bem0aned the fact that Nigerian rappers were getting killed by their South African counterparts and also took shots at Nigerian rappers turned singers among other topics.

After the song dropped, an online debate kicked off about the state and decline of Nigerian hip-hop. Valid points were raised, some opinions blamed the rappers, others blamed the media and some apportioned the blame to the fans but BlaqBonez decided to literally voice his opinions, and in this 4-minute track, he bears his heart out.

Replying directly, BlaqBonez confidently declares:

“Nasty C ain’t got nothing on me”

“Nobody else rap sicker, I really been one of the hardest outta Africa”

…among other lines that stresses the rappers point that he has been hot from time and it’s high time the system recognizes his amazing talent.

It is rare in the Nigerian hip-hop culture for rappers to reply other rappers but BlaqBonez has delivered a worthy reply to M.I and hopefully this signals a new era for Nigerian hip-hop. An era where rappers would stop tweeting and actually start rapping. The discuss about Nigerian hip-hop continues on what should be done to make it a force once more on the continent, and hopefully with time, things will change.
