Chain of Fools is an R&B soul song performed by American singer-songwriter Aretha Franklin, for her 1968 fourteenth studio album Lady Soul.
Don Covay penned it while Jerry Wexler helmed its production.
Atlantic Records put out the song as a single in 1967 and its success led to the subsequent appearance on many of her albums.
It reached Number 1 on the US R&B chart, Number 2 on the Pop chart and won the Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
It was also inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame Award was ranked at Number 249 on Rolling Stone’s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
