Huawei says that it has sold 9 million units of the P9 worldwide

Huawei, which has aspirations to become the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, said today that it has sold 9 million units of the Huawei P9 globally. In September, the company said that sales of the phone had reached 6 million. This means that 3 million additional handsets were rung up over the last two months. The P9 was launched in April.

The 12MP dual-camera setup on the back uses Leica optics, and the phone is powered by the home grown Kirin 955 chipset. This contains an octa-core 2.5GHz CPU and the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of internal storage (25MB available to end users). A 5.2-inch LCD screen is included, and a 3000mAh battery keeps the lights on. A fingerprint scanner is found on the back. The P9 line also includes the 5.5-inch Huawei P9 Plus, and the Huawei P9 lite with only one rear-facing camera.

During the first half of the year, the manufacturer sold approximately 57.3 million units. That makes Huawei the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world after Samsung and Apple. The firm's next big hit could be the Huawei Mate 9, which will reportedly be made official on November 14th.
