Hip hop song Lose Yourself was written by American rapper Eminem and produced by Eminem and Jeff Bass for the soundtrack to the 2002 movie 8 Mile. The song was released as a single on October 28, 2002.

In 2003, Lose Yourself was the first ever rap song to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance in 2004. It also appeared at number 166 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.

Lose Yourself, which received largely positive reviews from critics, peaked at number one (1) on the US Billboard Hot 100 as well as in eighteen (18) other countries.
