What’s Love Got to Do with It is an R&B pop song by American singer Tina Turner, taken from her 1984 fifth solo studio album, Private Dancer.

Graham Lyle co-wrote the song with its producer, Terry Britten.

The song was released by Capitol Records on May 1, 1984 and turned out to become Turner‘s most successful single.

It peaked at Number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100, giving the artist her first and only US number one as well as the second-biggest single of 1984 in the country.

In the UK, the song was Number 3 while reaching top ten in every other country except Italy, France, Belgium and Finland.

Rolling Stone ranked the single Number 309 on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time while it is ranked Number 38 on the Songs of the Century list.

In 2012, It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, giving Turner her third Grammy Hall of Fame Award and also her eleventh Grammy Award.
