Umbrella is an R&B pop song by Barbadian songstress Rihanna, from her 2007 third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad. It features American rapper Jay Z, who co-wrote the song with its producers Tricky Stewart and Kuk Harrell, and The Dream.

This song gave Rihanna an ultimate push into the limelight, bagging numerous nominations and awards.

After its release on March 29, 2007 as the lead single from the album, the song topped charts in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Also, at the 2008 Grammy Awards, the song bagged the Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration whilst picking two awards at the MTV Video Music Awards the previous year.

With an 8x platinum certification in the US and Spain, 5x platinum in Australia and 2x platinum in Sweden and Denmark, as well as a wide array of samples and covers by both amateur and professional artists, Umbrella is a song that surely deserves a place in the musical sands of time.
