Ted Season 2: Seth McFarlane Series Renewed at Peacock

Ted has been renewed for a second season at Peacock.

Announced in a press release, Peacock has officially renewed Ted for a second season. Created by Seth MacFarlane, the first season of the series premiered on the streaming platform in January 2024.

The first season of Ted became Peacock’s most-watched original title to date following its premiere. It served as a prequel to MacFarlane’s two feature films, 2012’s Ted and 2015’s Ted 2.

Plot details for Ted Season 2 have not yet been revealed. A streaming release date has not been announced at this time.

What was Ted Season 1 about?

“In this comedic prequel event series to the Ted films, it’s 1993, and Ted the bear’s (Seth MacFarlane) moment of fame has passed,” the synopsis for the first season reads. “He’s now living back home in Framingham, Massachusetts with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett (Max Burkholder), along with John’s parents, Matty and Susan (Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach) and cousin Blaire (Giorgia Whigham). Ted may be a lousy influence on John, but at the end of the day, he’s a loyal pal who’s always willing to go out on a limb for friendship.”

MacFarlane additionally served as an executive producer, write, director, and co-showrunner on the first season of Ted. Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh also served as executive producers, writers, and co-showrunners, while Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, and Aimee Carlson served as executive producers.

Walsh previously told TheWrap that there was still “a ton more stories to explore” in the world of Ted following the first season. “I mean, we have this teenage, going into early 20s young man that is going through all these experiences and also has his family around him,” he said. “We’ve told, what, seven stories so far? There’s plenty of room to explore and we’d love to explore it.”

The series comes from UCP (a division of Universal Studio Group), Fuzzy Door, and MRC.

All seven episodes of Ted Season 1 are currently streaming on Peacock.
